TVN Play, the new OTT developed by Mediastream

12/21/2023

This OTT platform from TVN is created in response to the fragmentation of its content, which was distributed on different platforms, such as its own website and YouTube channel. It became necessary to concentrate all the content in one place, making it easier to find the content that the user wants

TVN Play has thousands of hours currently of programming such as soap operas (telenovelas), entertainment and "cult" on-demand shows, with hundreds of new hours added each month. In addition, it provides access to 4 live signals including TVN, 24 Horas, TV Chile and TV Educa Chile. Everything is integrated with the Mediastream technological ecosystem, which allows, among other things, the best content distribution and user experience thanks to our own CDN.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of TVN's digital platforms, Diego Valdés, Mediastream was selected as the service provider since “We have worked with them for a long time, we knew about their seriousness and professionalism. This project started with another company but did not prosper and didn’t have too much time, so the decision had to be made with a supplier we fully trusted. Mediastream promised us a tailor-made job on time and fulfilled what was promised.

Valdés says that this also “allows us to know our users better. By focusing them in one place, we can better interpret them, see their behavior and identify them. In addition, thanks to the metrics provided by Mediastream, this work is easier because we have detailed and very specific data.”

TVN Play is a free service (AVOD) that only requires registration for the user to access all its content, so monetizing the content and users becomes an important task. According to Valdés, “The project has important opportunities to generate more revenue for the channel. By adding more hours of content, there are more opportunities of monetization”, which will be mainly done by Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI) for Live signals, and pre-roll & mid-roll for VOD.

In this way, TVN Play joins the important OTT projects developed by Mediastream, such as Win Sports Online in Colombia Ondamedia in Chile, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and Club Atlético Paranaense in Brazil, Gol TV in Uruguay, FPF Play in Peru, Motor Play in Argentina,  Football Club  in Europe, AJP in the United Arab Emirates, which integrate the best technology to manage, distribute and monetize their media content.
